| Friday 9/3/2010 1:00 AM | Welcome to St. John's Chapel UCC web site and thank you for visiting. Our Fall Calendar offers something for everyone. A six-week Course on Parables begins 9am Sunday, September 12. The course will be led by noted New Testament scholar, The Rev. Dr. John White, and those who see the world in terms of right and wrong or black and white are warned that this course may be overly thought-provoking and could cause serious side-effects (a re-examining of rigid Bible interpretation could occur in some cases). Also, please inquire about the 28-week spiritual development course, COMPANIONS IN CHRIST, that is forming now and will hold an organizational meeting, Sunday, September 5 after worship. Only 2 spaces are left! And we invite you to come play with us in the dirt, with the help of a Master Gardener, that is. We are starting small but community gardening is our goal. For information about our late fall planting activities, call 881-5175 today. To our cyber-guests, we warmly invite you to join us for worship every Sunday at 10:30am. And to our members, if you have a news item you wish to submit, please send it to our church secretary at sec@stjohnschapel.org. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIRTUAL VISIT! |
| Friday 9/3/2010 7:00 AM | The Labyrinth is open every day and night for meditative walks (our new landscape lighting is wonderful). All Are Welcome! The Labyrinth at St. John's Chapel UCC is only the second in Springfield, and is an expansive 30-feet wide. Printed suggestions on walking our Labyrinth are available at the Labyrinth's entrance, located at the base of the Bell Tower. Go to the back of the Bell Tower to begin your walk. Classes on "Walking the Labyrinth" are being formed and we invite you to call 417-881-5175 to learn more about our Labyrinth. |
| Friday 9/3/2010 8:00 AM | The UCC was in Haiti before, is there now, and will be there for many, many years to come. Please give whatever you monetarily can to alleviate the suffering of the people of Haiti. Go to www.ucc.org, or give on Sundays by noting that your check is for the Haitian Relief Effort. Thank you. |
